Conflicts Attorney

About the role

Arnold & Porter is seeking a Conflicts Attorney to support the firm’s new‑business, lateral hiring, and onboarding processes, as well as broader professional‑responsibility matters. Working on a hybrid schedule, the attorney will identify, analyze, and resolve conflicts of interest across multiple offices.

Key responsibilities

• Identify potential conflicts and ethical issues arising from new clients, matters, attorneys, and staff.
• Review conflicts search results and first‑level analyses prepared by team members.
• Provide guidance to attorneys conducting conflicts reviews.
• Gather, organize, and communicate due‑diligence information for various firm committees.
• Assist with professional‑responsibility matters, including drafting engagement letters and conflict waivers.
• Draft and circulate ethics screens and prepare Rule 1.11 disclosures for former government employees.
• Deliver professional‑responsibility training to attorneys and staff as requested.
• Monitor developments in applicable law and professional‑responsibility standards.
• Conduct research, drafting, and project support for the Director, Ethics Committee, and General Counsel.

Required profile

• Licensed attorney with experience in conflicts of interest and professional‑responsibility matters.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting abilities.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues across multiple practice areas and offices.
• Comfort working under supervision of senior ethics leadership.
