Counter Sales Officer – Receiving & Inventory

About the role

The Counter Sales Officer – Receiving & Inventory will be the first point of contact for customers at our Westlands showroom. You will manage sales transactions, receive construction materials and ensure accurate stock records in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to customers and process counter sales professionally.
• Prepare quotations, sales orders, invoices and receipts.
• Receive incoming construction materials and verify quantities against delivery documents.
• Capture received stock accurately in the inventory system.
• Issue stock for sales and ensure deductions are reflected in the system.
• Maintain records of stock movements, returns and adjustments.
• Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile with system balances.
• Investigate and report variances, shortages or excesses.
• Coordinate with stores, sales, procurement and finance teams.
• Monitor stock levels and flag low‑stock or unusual movements.
• File invoices, delivery notes and other documentation properly.

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Inventory Management, Accounting or related field.
• Previous experience in counter sales, receiving, stores or inventory management (up to 2 years).
• Experience in the construction or building‑materials sector is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of stock reconciliation and invoicing.

Required skills

• Proficiency with inventory management software, POS or ERP systems.
• Competent use of Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
