Data Engineering Advisor

About the role

Cigna is seeking a Data Engineering Advisor to lead the design, development, and support of its Data Integration Hub. You will act as the principal technical designer for complex data solutions, ensuring reliable data flow for critical business initiatives across the International Health Delivery Services organization.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test, and maintain ETL processes and data integration solutions using SQL Server and SSIS.
• Provide technical leadership, set standards, and mentor team members on best practices for data engineering.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex SQL Server issues, optimize performance, and monitor scheduled data processing batches.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to model and document data mappings.
• Suggest continuous improvements to code, tools, and workflows.

Required profile

• 8+ years delivering data solutions with at least 5 years of Microsoft SQL Server development and support.
• Proven experience leading technical teams, mentoring peers, and working in Agile environments.

Required skills

• Microsoft SQL Server, T‑SQL, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Advanced data modelling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Source control and CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
• Programming in C# and Python; familiarity with PySpark, Databricks, and cloud platforms.
• Use of AI‑assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor AI.
