Digital Video Editor Intern

About the role

The Standard Media Group is seeking a creative Digital Video Editor Intern to support its newsroom and digital platforms. This internship offers hands‑on experience in video storytelling, editing, and audience engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in editing news and feature videos for online publication.
• Create eye‑catching thumbnails using design tools.
• Support the management of YouTube channels, including uploading, metadata optimization, and performance tracking.
• Collaborate with reporters and producers to shape visual narratives.
• Maintain a library of raw footage and final cuts.

Required profile

• Degree or coursework in Film & Video Production, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field.
• Strong eye for detail and ability to craft compelling stories through video.
• Good command of English; knowledge of Swahili or Kalenjin is a plus.

Required skills

• Adobe Premiere Pro (or equivalent video‑editing software).
• Basic proficiency with Photoshop or Canva for thumbnail design.
• Understanding of YouTube Studio, analytics, SEO and audience retention metrics.
