Experience Design Director

About the role

The Experience Design Director will lead the creation of world‑class customer experiences for Absa Personal and Private Banking. Reporting to the Head of Design, this senior leader will embed design thinking across business units, ensuring that every touch‑point aligns with strategic goals and customer needs.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business and product leaders to shape experience strategy and align design outcomes with business objectives.
• Define project scope, objectives and deliverables, allocating resources to meet quality, timeline and budget targets.
• Oversee multiple design projects, directing designers, process engineers and external consultants as needed.
• Monitor UX, product and business metrics to evaluate design impact and generate actionable customer insights.
• Champion a customer‑centric culture, challenging decisions that could compromise experience quality.
• Stay informed of industry trends to keep Absa’s experience design competitive and innovative.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in design, preferably within banking or financial services.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate business strategy into design solutions.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills to work with senior executives and cross‑functional teams.
• Track record of managing complex, multi‑disciplinary design projects from concept to delivery.
