Fertilizer Procurement Associate

About the role

One Acre Fund is seeking a Procurement Associate to lead fertilizer sourcing across its operations. The role focuses on data‑driven purchasing decisions, ensuring cost‑efficient, on‑time delivery to smallholder farmers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute seasonal procurement strategies to achieve >90% on‑time‑in‑full delivery and 5% year‑on‑year cost savings.
• Maintain strict quality control, targeting zero quality issues for farmers and >80% on‑time payment to suppliers.
• Monitor global market trends, supplier capacity and inventory to anticipate and close supply gaps.
• Streamline lead times through process automation and improvements to goods receipt and loading quality control.
• Build and maintain complex Google Sheets data models to track landed costs and inform optimal purchasing windows.
• Establish and nurture strategic relationships with fertilizer suppliers and industry organisations.
• Partner with country teams to identify opportunities that enhance the farmer offering.
• Manage and mentor a small team, setting goals, providing feedback and conducting performance reviews.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in agricultural inputs.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate data into actionable purchasing decisions.
• Excellent communication skills for supplier negotiations and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Leadership experience managing a small team and driving performance.
