About the role
Natural State is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead data management, pipeline development, and ecological analytics within its Research and Monitoring department. This remote position works across global time zones, focusing on biodiversity, carbon, water, and social indicator data.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automated data processing pipelines (SQL) and visualizations.
- Develop and apply machine‑learning and ecological modelling techniques to biodiversity datasets.
- Create dynamic field survey forms in ODK and design data ingestion workflows.
- Clean, process, and join raw field data into analysis‑ready datasets for dashboards and reports.
- Translate project delivery and biometrics requirements into precise technical specifications for the Technology team.
- Validate and test pipeline implementations, ensuring data quality and reliability.
Required profile
- Senior‑level experience at the intersection of data engineering, ecological data science, and product ownership.
- Comfortable working remotely with core hours covering 12:00–15:00 UTC.
- Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Technology, Project Delivery, Biometrics).
- Full‑time availability (40 hours per week).
