Head of Medical Services – Clinical Leadership Role

About the role

The Head of Medical Services will provide overall clinical leadership for a multi‑disciplinary hospital environment, overseeing outpatient, inpatient, maternity, theatre and laboratory services. This senior position ensures the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred care while aligning clinical operations with the hospital’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all clinical departments, promoting evidence‑based practice and integrated service delivery.
• Develop, implement and continuously review clinical policies, SOPs and governance frameworks to ensure patient safety and quality assurance.
• Supervise medical officers, specialists, clinical officers and nursing teams; conduct performance appraisals and support continuous medical education.
• Manage patient care pathways, improve patient satisfaction, and address complaints or clinical escalations promptly.
• Participate in budgeting, monitor resource utilization, and oversee procurement of medical supplies and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with national licensing requirements, regulatory standards and risk management protocols.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in clinical management or similar senior medical leadership roles.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive clinical governance initiatives.
• Experience in budget planning, resource allocation and accreditation processes.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to ethical, patient‑focused care.
• Relevant medical qualifications and a valid professional license.
