Human Resource Officer – HR & Administration Lead

About the role

The Human Resource Officer (HRO) will be based in Nairobi and will oversee all HR and administrative functions for our client site. You will ensure smooth recruitment, onboarding, performance management, payroll processing and compliance with Kenyan labour laws while fostering positive employee relations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage leave requests and maintain accurate attendance records for direct staff.
• Coordinate onboarding activities, issue contracts and ensure a seamless entry for new hires.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, grievances and disciplinary matters.
• Support performance evaluation processes and maintain up‑to‑date HR files and training documentation.
• Process payroll accurately, verify timesheets, apply salary adjustments and deductions.
• Monitor changes in labour legislation and ensure organisational compliance.
• Contribute to client retention and growth through high‑quality service delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum three (3) years of experience as an HR practitioner or in a comparable operations role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related business field.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot operational challenges efficiently.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Google Suite.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using HRMIS systems.
