Intelligent Ops & Governance Lead

About the role

The Intelligent Ops & Governance Lead will be the operational backbone for M‑PESA’s Financial Services portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Financial Services Officer, the role ensures safe, resilient and scalable fintech operations while enabling innovation and growth.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce policy, process and regulatory compliance frameworks across all fintech products.
• Build and maintain an intelligent operations engine using AI, automation and data to predict and prevent issues.
• Oversee partner and ecosystem governance, service level agreements and business continuity planning.
• Lead risk, fraud and control frameworks that are proportionate to scale and support rapid product development.
• Provide clear compliance thresholds, decision rights and escalation protocols for cross‑functional squads.
• Drive continuous improvement, lean process optimisation and reduction of operational complexity.

Required profile

• Proven experience in fintech operations, governance or risk management at a senior level.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in financial services.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams in an agile environment.
• Excellent analytical mindset with a focus on predictive, data‑driven decision making.
