Junior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Accountant to join Zb Constructions Limited in Westlands, Nairobi. The role offers an opportunity to develop core accounting skills while supporting the finance team in a fast‑growing construction environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general ledger entries and ensure timely posting of transactions.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, and perform bank and account reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and support audit activities.
• Code day‑to‑day financial transactions and help with budget monitoring for project cost centres.
• Monitor intercompany transactions and assist with payroll data processing and basic tax filings.
• Liaise with other departments to resolve accounting queries and report discrepancies to senior accountants.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• 0–2 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
• Partial or full progress towards CPA or ACCA qualification is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset and high ethical standards.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or ERP systems.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
