Lead Internal Auditor

About the role

The Lead Internal Auditor will head audit engagements for Kaziweza Limited, ensuring compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with multiple departments to evaluate controls, identify improvement areas, and drive operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop audit plans, define scope, objectives and timelines.
• Conduct risk assessments and gather background information.
• Lead and supervise audit teams during fieldwork.
• Test internal controls, processes and transactions in detail.
• Document findings, non‑compliance issues and potential risks.
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports with recommendations.
• Present audit results to senior management and stakeholders.
• Track implementation of recommendations and perform follow‑up audits.
• Monitor changes in risk environment and control systems.
• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices and regulatory changes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or Economics.
• Professional qualification: CPA‑K, ACCA, CIA (preferred).
• Minimum five (5) years of internal audit experience.
• Membership of IIA or ISA is an advantage.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience auditing through computerized systems.
• Knowledge of ERP systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with audit software.
