Legal Consultant

About the role

The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is seeking a Legal Consultant to join its team in Westlands, Nairobi. This position will support the Centre’s legal requirements across its agricultural and environmental programmes. The role involves collaborating with project teams to ensure that activities comply with applicable laws and regulations, while contributing to the development of sound legal frameworks that underpin sustainable agroforestry initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders.
• Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements.
• Monitor regulatory changes and advise on compliance measures.
• Support the preparation of legal documentation for projects.

Required profile

• Holds a relevant degree as required.
• Fluent spoken and written English; additional international language(s) an advantage.
• Demonstrated experience working in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams, preferably in a non‑profit organization.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Values information sharing, continuous improvement, and cooperative learning.
