Legal Counsel – Business Unit

About the role

Telkom Kenya Limited is seeking a Business Unit Legal professional to ensure the company’s operations comply with legal requirements and to mitigate legal exposure. You will work closely with business units, providing guidance on contractual and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with business units to identify legal support needs and understand commercial opportunities.
• Monitor and advise on changes in Kenya’s legal framework affecting telecommunications and mobile financial services.
• Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts to protect the company’s interests.
• Manage litigation matters, prepare court documents, and coordinate with external counsel when required.
• Provide cost‑effective legal solutions and maintain up‑to‑date legal knowledge.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university and a Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
• Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
• Minimum three years of experience as a legal practitioner in a busy law firm or as corporate counsel.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan law, especially in telecommunications and mobile financial services.
