Legal Projects Officer – Pro Bono Network

About the role

The Thomson Reuters Foundation’s TrustLaw network is seeking a Legal Projects Officer to support donor‑funded initiatives that connect civil society organisations with pro bono legal expertise. Based in Nairobi, you will work closely with the Legal Project Manager in London and regional TrustLaw teams to implement projects focused on human rights, social justice, climate and just transition.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Legal Project Manager in developing, administering and monitoring project plans to ensure timely delivery.
• Conduct outreach, onboard civil society organisations and engage existing TrustLaw members.
• Scope, draft and manage pro bono legal requests, linking clients with lawyers across the TrustLaw network.
• Design and oversee cross‑border legal research projects addressing operational, advocacy and policy needs.
• Develop, design and disseminate legal resources, tools and knowledge products.
• Organise workshops, trainings, convenings and other events.
• Collect data for the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) framework and track key indicators.
• Maintain internal records, including updating Salesforce and other systems.
• Support external project communications in collaboration with donors and engagement teams.

Required profile

• Strong interest in human rights, social and economic justice, and climate‑related issues.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with international partners and manage multiple tasks.

Required skills

• Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
