Locum Nutritionist

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Locum Nutritionist to support nutrition screening, acute malnutrition treatment, micronutrient supplementation, and the promotion of appropriate MIYCN practices in health facilities. Reporting to the Senior Nutrition Officer, you will work directly with under‑five children, pregnant and lactating women, and other vulnerable groups.

Key responsibilities

• Implement Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) protocols for OTP/TSFP programs in line with WHO 2023 guidelines.
• Conduct daily ward rounds, document observations, and ensure proper treatment according to national IMAM guidelines.
• Identify and treat acutely malnourished children and women through nutrition surveillance and assessment systems.
• Support capacity building for CHWs, OPD staff, and auxiliary nurses through on‑the‑job training.
• Deliver MIYCN counseling and health education sessions, integrating them with CMAM programs.
• Monitor and reconcile nutrition supply usage daily.
• Compile weekly nutrition reports and monthly MOH summary reports for entry into KHIS/LMIS.
• Participate in data review meetings and liaise with pharmacy and facility staff to ensure commodity availability.

Required profile

• Experience implementing IMAM protocols and managing OTP/TSFP programs.
• Ability to conduct nutrition assessments and provide counseling for mothers and children.
• Proven skill in data collection, entry, and reporting for nutrition programs.
• Capacity to train and mentor community health workers and facility staff.
