Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Thika. You will design, develop, and improve automated packaging machinery and mechanical systems to boost efficiency and production output.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop automated packaging machinery, conveyors, robotic handling systems, sealers, and packaging lines using CAD software.
• Prepare detailed mechanical drawings, layouts, and system specifications.
• Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of industrial automated systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies and recommend engineering solutions for process optimisation.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes, and coordinate repairs.
• Ensure compliance with occupational safety and manufacturing standards, conduct inspections and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with electrical, automation, and controls teams, as well as production staff, to improve machine integration and workflow efficiency.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a busy manufacturing environment with automated machinery.
• Strong hands‑on experience with industrial packaging equipment.
