About the role
The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is seeking an entry‑level Mechanical Engineering Technologist to join its Nairobi facilities. The role focuses on ensuring that laboratory and research equipment remains operational through routine maintenance, repairs, and installations.
Key responsibilities
- Identify repair and maintenance needs and report them to the supervisor.
- Prepare and follow repair and maintenance schedules for all mechanical equipment.
- Carry out service, repair, and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Test, repair, and install new equipment as required.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by management.
Required profile
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (production option) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Strong communication and reporting abilities.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Required skills
- Proficiency in computer applications.
