Medical Officer (Kijabe, Kenya)

About the role

CURE is seeking a qualified Medical Officer to lead outpatient care at its Kijabe hospital in Kiambu, Kenya. The role involves direct patient management, supervision of junior staff, and collaboration with surgeons to ensure high‑quality medical and spiritual care for children.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day medical management of outpatients and oversee inpatient reviews in partnership with residents and primary surgeons.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of practice.
• Review pathology, radiology, and other diagnostic reports and communicate findings to surgeons.
• Document patient histories, examinations, management plans, investigations, and actions in medical records.
• Order necessary radiology and pathology tests, prescribe appropriate medication, and arrange referrals.
• Supervise clinical support services including pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, biomedical, and nutrition.
• Deliver on‑the‑job teaching and mentorship to junior medical staff.
• Communicate condition updates and care plans to patients and families.

Required profile

• Medical degree with a valid license to practice in Kenya.
• Experience in outpatient and inpatient clinical settings.
• Proven ability to supervise and teach junior medical personnel.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
