New Business Development Intern (NBD)

About the role

The New Business Development Intern will support Save the Children’s East and Southern Africa Regional and Multi‑Country Programmes by assisting with resource mobilisation and business development activities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and develop tools to track upcoming funding opportunities for decision and action.
• Research and gather funding intelligence from potential institutional donors, regional corporates and non‑traditional sources.
• Create and maintain a calendar of upcoming opportunities and share intel with the Head of RMCP.
• Manage knowledge‑sharing platforms (SharePoint and other SCI tools) for business development work.
• Assist in drafting concept notes, thematic briefs, communication materials and donor packages.
• Support coordination and management of multi‑country and regional proposal development processes.
• Organise and facilitate proposal kick‑off meetings and follow‑up on action points.
• Analyse regional pipeline and portfolio reports to identify trends affecting success rates.

Required profile

• Recently completed or studying a degree in business management, project management, international relations, international development or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in international development or fundraising business development in the NGO/INGO sector (desired).
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Strong analytical and information‑management skills.
• Excellent communication, process and time‑management abilities.
• High level of integrity and ability to work effectively in a professional team.
• Fluency in English (written and verbal).
