Programme Finance and Reporting Analyst

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Programme Finance and Reporting Analyst to support its Climate Change Division, Mitigation Branch. Working from Nairobi on a 12‑month consultancy, you will assist the Senior Programme Management Officer and Administrative Officer in budgeting, financial monitoring and reporting for a portfolio of climate‑change mitigation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor budgetary commitments and verify financial transactions in the UN‑wide UMOJA system.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with UNEP guidelines.
• Analyse trends in financial implementation and provide recommendations to the Task Manager.
• Review project submissions for compliance with programme objectives and summarize findings for management.
• Establish and maintain monitoring systems, including scheduled reporting, review meetings and field missions.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in programme finance, budgeting or financial reporting, preferably within international or UN environments.
• Understanding of climate‑change mitigation projects and associated financial mechanisms.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating with internal and external partners.
