Retail Cashier – POS & Inventory Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Retail Cashier to join our Westlands store in Nairobi. The role combines front‑line cash handling with inventory and purchase order duties, ensuring smooth daily operations and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Process customer purchases accurately using the POS system, handling cash, card, and mobile money payments.
• Balance the cash drawer at the start and end of each shift and report any variances.
• Generate and file Local Purchase Orders, follow up on supplier deliveries, and ensure purchases match approved stock budgets.
• Receive and verify deliveries, record stock in the inventory system, and report shortages or damages.
• Conduct daily shelf replenishment, routine stock counts, and support periodic stock takes.
• Provide courteous customer service, resolve queries, and promote offers and loyalty programmes.
• Maintain clean and organized checkout and store areas, assist with opening/closing procedures, and support audits.
• Adhere to company SOPs, health and safety standards, and loss‑prevention policies.

Required profile

• Mid‑level experience (minimum 24 months) in a retail or FMCG environment.
• Proven ability to manage cash, POS transactions and inventory records.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Good communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including opening and closing times.
