About the role
The Risk, Governance and Compliance Intern will work closely with Save the Children Kenya’s finance and programme teams to support external audit processes and promote a culture of compliance across the programme and its partners. Reporting to the Risk, Governance and Compliance Manager, the intern will assist in ensuring donor and internal policy adherence.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate the external audit process, including document identification, timeline communication, and field office visits.
- Liaise with programme and department staff to provide management comments on audit issues and clarify questioned transactions.
- Support entry and exit meetings with auditors and manage audit documentation and archiving.
- Track audit findings and recommendations, reporting them quarterly to senior management and following up on corrective actions.
- Visit field offices to review internal financial and non‑financial processes against Save the Children regulations.
- Review award files, reports and documents prior to donor audits to ensure completeness and compliance.
Required profile
- Ability to work under the direction of the Internal Controls and Compliance Coordinator.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document, investigate, and resolve non‑conformities.
