Senior Communications and Learning Officer

About the role

Mercy Corps is seeking a Senior Communications and Learning Officer to lead strategic communication and learning initiatives for the RANGE programme in Kenya. You will shape the narrative of our impact, amplify success stories, and ensure knowledge is captured and shared across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic communication plans (internal and external) for the RANGE programme, aligning with regional and global efforts.
• Create a standardized framework to collect, aggregate, and disseminate programme learnings.
• Support country‑wide communication needs as directed by leadership.
• Produce impact, human‑interest stories, case studies, and learning briefs.
• Coordinate content strategy, maintain a content calendar, and act as the primary contact for RANGE content requests.
• Curate a library of stories, press releases, and articles for media, reports, and donor communications.
• Manage and grow the programme’s presence on social media platforms and the website.
• Collaborate with regional and global communications teams to ensure consistent messaging.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in media, communications, journalism, social studies or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 3‑5 years of progressive experience in communications or public relations.
• Proven track record in storytelling, copy‑writing, and editing across multiple formats.
• Experience developing and executing communication plans.
• Interest in writing success stories, learning briefs, and technical editorials.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
