Senior Digital Content Producer – Youth, Gender & Identity

About the role

As a Senior Digital Content Producer focusing on Youth, Gender and Identity, you will create, report, film, edit and present high‑impact journalism for BBC News across Africa. Based in Nairobi, you will uncover under‑reported stories and translate complex issues into engaging digital and broadcast content that resonates with young and female audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop original story ideas that highlight the experiences, challenges and opportunities of young people, and issues of gender and identity across Africa.
• Report, interview, film and edit video packages for digital and broadcast platforms, ensuring accuracy, impartiality and high editorial standards.
• Support coverage of major news events and special programmes, remaining agile to breaking developments.
• Utilise AI‑enabled tools responsibly to improve speed, efficiency and creativity while maintaining editorial oversight.
• Contribute ideas to continuously improve storytelling and digital output.
• Ensure compliance with BBC editorial, legal and policy standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior reporter or journalist with a strong focus on digital and video production.
• Demonstrated ability to interview young people and diverse contributors with sensitivity, fairness and respect.
• Experience leveraging emerging technologies to enhance storytelling.
