Swimming Instructor

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Swimming Instructor to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will manage an 82‑by‑63‑by‑12‑foot pool, ensure safety, and deliver high‑quality swimming lessons to a diverse patron base.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the pool in compliance with NAVMED P‑5010‑4, NAVSUPPFAC, CNICINST 1710.3, and other Navy instructions.
• Monitor water quality, filtration, and cleanliness; inspect equipment and coordinate repairs.
• Plan and conduct swimming lessons for all ages and skill levels, focusing on technique and water safety.
• Supervise swimmers, intervene in emergencies, and provide CPR/AED and first‑aid care as needed.
• Enforce Navy and local safety policies, educate users on pool rules, and support pool‑related events.

Required profile

• Certified Swimming Instructor (American Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent).
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Minimum 1 year of swimming instruction or lifeguard experience.
• Understanding of pool operations, safety protocols, and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout deployment.
