Technical Consultant – Regional Working Group Secretariat (Remote, 7 months)

About the role

The UNICEF Regional Working Group (RWG) Secretariat for Immunization in East and Southern Africa needs a Technical Consultant to ensure continuous functionality during its chairing period (Jan‑Dec 2026). This 7‑month remote consultancy, based at the UNICEF Centre of Excellence in Nairobi, will support technical coordination, monitoring, knowledge management and partner engagement across 25 ESA countries.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical coordination for the RWG mandate under Gavi 6.0, VPOP process and NIS development.
• Monitor country‑level immunization processes and harmonise technical assistance.
• Strengthen five technical working groups and ensure timely follow‑up of RWG recommendations.
• Engage with UNICEF, WHO, Gavi and regional partners as a core member of the RWG Secretariat.
• Participate in the Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Working Group.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Global/International Health, Health Policy and Management or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in primary health care at national and international levels.
• Substantive experience and technical knowledge on immunization.
• Proven experience coordinating health and immunization programmes or strategies.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities; ability to produce high‑quality technical reports.
• Fluency in English and French.
• Experience with UN agencies is an asset.
