Technical Expert – Payment Authorization Optimization

About the role

The Technical Expert will support issuing clients in Nairobi to improve Card‑Not‑Present (CNP) approval rates. Working within the Technical Account Management (TAM) division, you will diagnose decline reasons and deliver end‑to‑end technical and operational solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze decline data for assigned markets and identify customer‑level actions to boost approval rates.
• Maintain the technology and operational relationship with issuers and acquirers, ensuring recommended optimizations are implemented.
• Serve as the primary contact for authorization optimization, coordinating with internal teams and client stakeholders.
• Log support requests, track actions, and provide regular status updates to clients.
• Conduct review meetings to monitor onboarding projects, incidents, and technical tickets.
• Coordinate with client technical teams to guarantee timely, high‑quality support.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in payment gateways, acquiring, or technical project delivery.
• Strong understanding of payment approval flows, digital commerce, merchant integrations, decline and fraud rules.
• Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast‑paced client environment.
