Tender and Estimation Engineer

About the role

The Tender and Estimation Engineer will support the MEP department by preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender packages for engineering and construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, suppliers and subcontractors to secure new business and ensure bids meet client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Review RFPs, ITTs and project drawings to evaluate scope, risks and feasibility.
• Perform detailed quantity take‑offs from architectural, structural and MEP drawings using estimation software.
• Develop comprehensive cost estimates covering materials, labour, equipment and indirect costs.
• Source, compare and negotiate quotations from suppliers and specialised subcontractors.
• Compile complete technical and financial bid documents in line with client specifications.
• Identify project risks and logistical challenges and incorporate them into pricing strategies.
• Provide post‑tender support, respond to client queries and assist in contract negotiations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Building Economics or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in tendering, cost estimation or quantity surveying within the construction sector.
• Strong commercial awareness of market rates, material inflation and standard construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, JCT).

Required skills

• Proficiency with estimation and planning tools such as MS Project and AutoCAD.
• Advanced ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and MEP layouts.
• Excellent numerical accuracy for material and labour calculations.
