Transport Lead – Other Contracts

About the role

The Transport Lead – Other Contracts is responsible for overseeing daily transport operations, ensuring safe, compliant and cost‑effective movement of goods. You will lead transport teams, manage fleet performance and drive continuous improvement to meet customer and business requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily transport activities to satisfy customer and business needs.
• Monitor fleet utilisation, optimise vehicle routing, load planning and vehicle allocation.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Use transportation management systems and tracking tools to monitor shipments and vehicles in real time.
• Ensure on‑time collection and delivery of shipments and resolve operational issues promptly.
• Supervise transport controllers, planners, drivers and support staff; conduct briefings and performance reviews.
• Develop employee capability through coaching, mentoring and training.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with transport legislation and company policies.
• Oversee vehicle availability, maintenance, compliance and control of related documentation and equipment.
• Monitor transport costs and identify cost‑saving and productivity opportunities.
• Manage performance of transport‑related suppliers and contractors.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading transport or logistics teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to monitor and optimise fleet utilisation and routing.
• Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
• Experience supervising drivers, planners and support staff.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and real‑time tracking tools.
• Knowledge of fleet performance monitoring and load planning.
• Understanding of transport legislation, road safety regulations and compliance procedures.
