Veterinary Officer

About the role

The Veterinary Officer will be responsible for safeguarding flock health and maximizing productivity on a poultry farm. Reporting to the Farm Operations Manager, the role ensures compliance with veterinary regulations, bio‑security protocols and food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily flock health and conduct disease surveillance.
• Diagnose poultry diseases and develop treatment protocols.
• Implement and oversee vaccination programmes.
• Maintain farm bio‑security and investigate mortality cases.
• Supervise medication administration and advise on nutrition.
• Maintain accurate veterinary records and prepare regular reports.
• Train farm personnel on animal welfare and health practices.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and support production planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine.
• Registered Veterinary Surgeon with a valid practicing licence.
• Minimum three years experience in the poultry industry.
• Strong knowledge of animal health, disease diagnosis and bio‑security.
• Proven ability to develop vaccination and treatment programmes.
• Excellent communication and report‑writing skills.
