About the role
The Assistant Fire Chief of Prevention will lead fire prevention programs for a U.S. Navy installation on Diego Garcia, ensuring compliance with fire safety standards and protecting personnel and critical infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Fire Prevention section, ensuring compliance with NFPA regulations and other applicable codes.
- Develop, administer, and promote fire prevention, protection, and public safety education programs.
- Conduct inspections, fire hazard assessments, and provide corrective action recommendations.
- Review construction designs and building plans for fire code compliance.
- Manage fire investigations and use findings to strengthen prevention programs.
- Supervise a multi‑national team of fire inspectors, handling training, scheduling, and performance management.
Required profile
- Minimum three years of experience leading a fire prevention section or division of comparable size.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as Fire Inspector III and Plans Examiner I.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to pass contract medical requirements, obtain and maintain necessary credentials, and hold a valid passport.
