Audit Manager

About the role

The Audit Manager will lead the planning, execution and monitoring of internal audit activities in line with Absa's Group Audit Plan. This role ensures audit assignments are delivered with high quality, adhering to the bank's methodology, policies and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, manage and monitor audit engagements, applying design effectiveness and operating effectiveness testing.
• Execute audit assignments with minimal supervision, following the Quality Assurance scorecard.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key audit contacts and stakeholders, facilitating open discussion on risks.
• Provide technical assistance to audit teams, reviewing risk assessments, controls, working papers and audit reports.
• Guide junior auditors by sharing best practices and ensuring work meets or exceeds quality standards.
• Identify and assess risks during planning sessions and document findings in Audit Bond.
• Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of controls and ensure timely agreement of observations with management.
• Offer actionable recommendations to stakeholders to improve risk management and control environments.

Required profile

• Proven experience in internal audit within a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong knowledge of audit methodology, design effectiveness testing and operating effectiveness testing.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Capability to mentor and support junior audit staff.
