About the role
Optoma, the leading DLP brand in EMEA, is hiring its first Business Development Manager for East Africa. This strategic, high‑autonomy position will shape the market architecture for a 3‑5‑year growth plan across the region.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and develop new market segments such as smart classrooms, government digital infrastructure, hospitality AV, corporate workspaces, and healthcare.
- Establish strategic partnerships with system integrators, AV consultants, architects, and specification influencers.
- Lead relationship development with ministries of education, municipal governments, international development organisations, and NGOs.
- Drive Optoma product specifications into long‑cycle projects, including government tenders and World Bank/USAID‑funded programmes.
- Create and execute go‑to‑market plans for additional territories beyond Kenya (e.g., Ethiopia, DRC, Angola, Senegal).
- Represent Optoma at industry conferences, education summits, and government AV/ICT forums across East Africa.
- Hand off qualified, specification‑led opportunities to the sales pipeline and report market insights to the META Territory Manager.
Required profile
- Proven experience in business development, strategic sales or market development within IT, AV or technology sectors.
- Successful track record opening new market segments or territories in East or sub‑Saharan Africa.
- Experience engaging with ministries, government agencies or large institutional procurement bodies.
- Strong network of contacts in East African education, government or NGO/international organisations.
