Business Development Manager – East Africa

About the role

Optoma, the leading DLP brand in EMEA, is hiring its first Business Development Manager for East Africa. This strategic, high‑autonomy position will shape the market architecture for a 3‑5‑year growth plan across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new market segments such as smart classrooms, government digital infrastructure, hospitality AV, corporate workspaces, and healthcare.
• Establish strategic partnerships with system integrators, AV consultants, architects, and specification influencers.
• Lead relationship development with ministries of education, municipal governments, international development organisations, and NGOs.
• Drive Optoma product specifications into long‑cycle projects, including government tenders and World Bank/USAID‑funded programmes.
• Create and execute go‑to‑market plans for additional territories beyond Kenya (e.g., Ethiopia, DRC, Angola, Senegal).
• Represent Optoma at industry conferences, education summits, and government AV/ICT forums across East Africa.
• Hand off qualified, specification‑led opportunities to the sales pipeline and report market insights to the META Territory Manager.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development, strategic sales or market development within IT, AV or technology sectors.
• Successful track record opening new market segments or territories in East or sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience engaging with ministries, government agencies or large institutional procurement bodies.
• Strong network of contacts in East African education, government or NGO/international organisations.
