Chief of Staff – Nairobi

About the role

The Chief of Staff will act as the strategic bridge between Light Up Hope’s US‑based leadership and its Kenyan operations, ensuring that organizational priorities are executed with alignment, accountability, and cultural cohesion.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the CEO’s business rhythm, design leadership agendas, track action items, and prepare board materials.
• Monitor staff sentiment, identify burnout risks, and advise on cultural alignment between US and Kenyan teams.
• Identify emerging operational risks, coordinate mitigation plans, and track Kenyan regulatory developments.
• Facilitate cross‑departmental synergy among Programs, Finance, and Development to remove bottlenecks.
• Research and introduce external Kenyan stakeholders, donors, and government officials to the CEO.
• Partner with the Development Director to lead fundraising, grant writing, and networking strategies in Kenya.
• Represent the organization at stakeholder forums and lead due‑diligence for new partnerships.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior operational or executive support roles, preferably within NGOs or international development.
• Strong understanding of Kenyan regulatory and cultural context.
• Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to drive cross‑functional collaboration and manage complex projects.
