Chief Operating Officer – Nairobi

About the role

A leading Kenyan ophthalmology centre, which delivers subspecialty eye care across Retina, Glaucoma, Anterior Segment and Paediatric Ophthalmology through its Nairobi headquarters and regional branch network, is recruiting a Chief Operating Officer. The role is central to driving operational excellence, supporting strategic expansion and strengthening organisational performance during a period of growth. Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, standardisation and implementation of operational systems and processes across all hospital functions to ensure efficiency and consistency.
• Develop and oversee performance dashboards and reporting frameworks that give leadership accurate, actionable data.
• Drive revenue growth and patient volume by improving service utilisation, patient conversion rates and overall operational performance.
• Coordinate cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless patient flow and alignment between clinical and support teams.
• Ensure operational consistency and best practice across multiple branches and locations.
• Oversee marketing, sales, institutional partnerships and the operational rollout of new service lines.

Required profile

• Minimum of 10-15 years' experience in senior leadership roles within complex, service-driven organisations, with a track record of leading large, multi-functional teams.
• Proven success in implementing operational systems, performance management initiatives and improving organisational efficiency.
• MBA, MHA or another relevant postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Data-driven leadership style, excellent communication skills and the ability to engage executives, clinical and administrative teams.
• High ethical standards and fit for a purpose-driven, mission-oriented organisation.
