Clinical Officer

About the role

Brites Management Services is recruiting a full-time Clinical Officer for Elwak, Mandera, in the healthcare sector. The post covers patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and clinical administration, with a stated salary of KShs 70,000.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, take comprehensive medical histories, perform physical examinations and develop treatment plans, providing health education, counselling, follow-up and referrals.
• Diagnose common conditions and request, conduct or interpret laboratory and other diagnostic tests within the scope of practice, monitoring progress and adjusting treatment plans.
• Perform routine clinical procedures, respond to medical emergencies with initial stabilisation and refer when needed, while maintaining infection prevention and control standards.
• Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and coordinate with nurses, laboratory staff, pharmacy teams and other professionals.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognised institution.
• Registered with the Clinical Officers Council (COC) with a valid practising licence.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Clinical Officer in a busy clinic, hospital or healthcare facility.
• Experience in patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, routine procedures and emergency care.

Required skills

• Knowledge of clinical protocols, infection prevention, patient safety and medical ethics.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy clinical setting, with professionalism, integrity, confidentiality and compassion.
