About the role
The Engineering Manager will lead the engineering and maintenance functions at the Kisii Factory, ensuring plant reliability, equipment availability and operational efficiency across all departments.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement engineering and maintenance strategies to maximise plant reliability and minimise downtime.
- Plan, direct and oversee all engineering, maintenance and utilities operations, supporting production and business objectives.
- Lead engineering projects from planning through execution, ensuring delivery within approved budgets, timelines and technical specifications.
- Provide leadership, coaching and performance management to the engineering team to promote high performance and continuous capability development.
- Manage preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes and monitor key performance indicators.
- Control the engineering department budget, approve material requisitions, spare parts and contractor engagements.
- Investigate equipment failures, conduct root‑cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency, energy utilisation and productivity.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, EHS, food safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, regulatory bodies and external partners.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering discipline; professional registration is a plus.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive engineering experience in manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven experience in maintenance management, engineering project management, utilities management and asset reliability.
- Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance systems and relevant statutory, environmental, health and safety requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and in a fast‑paced team environment.
