Finance Intern – Nairobi

About the role

A client of Summit Recruitment & Search is looking for a dedicated Finance Intern for a one-year internship in Nairobi, Kenya. It suits recent graduates who want practical experience in finance and accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day financial operations, including data entry and record-keeping.
• Support preparation of financial reports, budgets and forecasts.
• Conduct reconciliations of accounts, including bank and supplier statements.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
• Help prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
• Work with the finance team to analyse financial data and identify areas for improvement.
• Take part in internal audits and reviews as needed, and perform other duties assigned by the finance manager.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Professional certification (CPA or ACCA) is an added advantage.
• Strong academic record, preferably a B+ or higher in high school.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
