Finance Manager – Fintech (Kenya Entity)

About the role

M-KOPA Solar is hiring a full-time Finance Manager in Nairobi for its Kenya entity. This is a hands-on, high-ownership position: you will act as finance lead for the Kenya business, covering monthly reporting, compliance, treasury, and the unit economics that underpin commercial decisions. Key responsibilities

• Own the monthly management reporting pack and executive commentary, and the IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss model
• Manage the end-to-end monthly close: accruals, prepayments, intercompany, depreciation and FX
• Produce variance analysis that separates market-specific effects from one-off items
• Monitor the loan book, analyse repayment behaviour by cohort, and own provisioning and bad debt trends
• Support statutory and regulatory reporting, fund documentation and due diligence
• Work with the commercial team on unit economics, new product launches, pricing and supply decisions, and build financial cases for leadership and the board
• Identify automation opportunities, strengthen controls and ensure IFRS compliance (IFRS 9, IFRS 16, IAS 21, revenue recognition, IFRS 18 readiness)

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
• CPA(K), ACCA, CA or equivalent qualification
• 5+ years of financial management experience
• Track record in finance management or a senior finance role, including ownership of statutory and management reporting cycles
• Deep IFRS knowledge and proven ability to manage audit processes end-to-end
• Big 4 training is a strong advantage; fintech, lending or asset-financing experience is a plus
