Finance & Operations Accountant

About the role

A hospitality-sector client, with other business operations, is looking for a Finance & Operations Accountant in Nairobi. The role combines financial expertise with practical operational oversight and suits a commercially driven, cost-conscious person who works closely with leadership to improve efficiency, reduce wastage and support growth across all business units.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee full management accounting across all businesses, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, cash flow forecasts and variance analysis in QuickBooks, giving clear insights for decision-making.
• Drive cost control and efficiency by identifying wastage and inefficiencies without compromising quality or service.
• Work with departmental heads to monitor performance and ensure accountability against budgets.
• Ensure proper financial separation and reporting between business units, including inter-company transactions and revenue tracking.
• Advise management on pricing, investment priorities, resource allocation and business performance improvement.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial discipline and compliance.
• Collaborate with operational teams to improve procurement, stock management, payroll efficiency and cost structures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and cost management.
• Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen, able to link finance to operational performance.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, multi-business environment and to communicate and influence across teams.
