Head of Engineering, Field Verification

About the role

Moniepoint is launching its operations in Kenya and needs a senior engineering leader to own the Field Verification platform. This platform validates the identity of individuals, businesses, and loan guarantors as part of the KYC process and supports onboarding, loans, compliance, and fraud detection.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the technical roadmap for the Field Verification domain, turning a keep‑the‑lights‑on system into a high‑performing product.
• Lead a cross‑functional squad (Engineering Manager, four engineers, QA) and expand the team as needed.
• Design and implement trip‑ and route‑optimization features to reduce travel costs and improve officer efficiency.
• Build a native mobile application for Field Verification Officers.
• Develop and expose liveness and identity‑verification APIs for consumption by other business units.
• Improve capacity‑management tools and the assignment algorithm that routes requests to nearby officers.
• Collaborate with product, compliance, fraud, and operations teams to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in fast‑moving, data‑intensive environments, preferably within fintech or verification services.
• Strong architectural and product‑ownership skills with a track record of delivering scalable web and mobile solutions.
• Ability to work in a lean setting, prioritize a backlog of improvements, and drive execution end‑to‑end.
• Excellent communication skills to align technical decisions with business objectives.
