Head of Entrepreneurship

About the role

This senior position leads the Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development portfolio in Kenya, aligning with national priorities and the Foundation’s strategy to create dignified, fulfilling work for young people, with a focus on women‑led MSMEs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute the country’s Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development portfolio, ensuring alignment with national priorities and the Foundation’s vision.
• Develop and integrate an inclusive Access to Finance strategy that expands financial inclusion and supports growth of youth‑ and women‑led enterprises.
• Set short‑ and long‑term goals, guide strategic direction, program design, and partnership decisions.
• Oversee implementation and performance of entrepreneurship programs, ensuring effective delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement.
• Provide expertise to other strategic pillars on access to finance and enterprise development matters.
• Lead market‑driven interventions in digital enablement, BDS, and sectoral entrepreneurship such as agriculture and the green economy.
• Embed technology as an enabler across the portfolio and manage program risks with mitigation strategies.
• Cultivate strategic relationships with partners, government agencies, and ecosystem actors to amplify scale and impact.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Entrepreneurship or a related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in entrepreneurship, enterprise development or business development, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated expertise and established networks in the Kenyan entrepreneurship and MSME ecosystem.
• Deep knowledge of Kenya’s economic, regulatory and sectoral context.
• Proven ability to lead high‑performing teams and manage cross‑functional collaborations.
