Home-Based Tuition Teacher (Mathematics and Science)

About the role

Brites Management Services is recruiting a full-time tuition teacher who works from home. The tutor prepares and delivers lessons focused on Mathematics and Science, monitors the learner's progress and gives regular feedback to parents or guardians.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare structured lesson plans tailored to the learner's academic needs, focusing on Mathematics and Science.
• Deliver engaging, learner-centred lessons that simplify difficult concepts through practical examples, exercises and revision activities.
• Review previously covered topics, identify learning gaps and reinforce key concepts in preparation for the next academic level.
• Assign short exercises, homework, quizzes and revision tasks, track progress and adjust teaching methods as needed.
• Give regular feedback to the parent or guardian on performance, strengths, challenges and areas for improvement.
• Teach time management, organisation, revision techniques and independent study habits, and encourage critical thinking, problem-solving and confidence.

Required profile

• A relevant teaching qualification such as a P1 certificate, Diploma in Education, Bachelor of Education or equivalent is preferred.
• Demonstrable competence in teaching upper primary Mathematics and Science.
• Previous experience tutoring or teaching primary school learners is an added advantage.
• Familiarity with the Kenyan primary school curriculum is desirable.

Required skills

• Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and Science.
• Excellent communication, lesson planning and instructional skills.
• Patience and the ability to adapt teaching methods to the learner's pace and learning style.
