IFF Operator - Operations (Freight Forwarding)

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring a permanent full-time IFF Operator in Nairobi. The role provides quality customer service and facilitates clearance of clients' cargo.

Key responsibilities

• Handle the day-to-day operational relationship with clients: receive orders (tariffs already validated through a quotation), ask for missing documents and detailed instructions, and inform clients of progress in real time.
• Manage file processing: update clients and the IFFOS, update the monitoring software, receive and open operation files daily, share shipment status daily, and share TEU projections monthly with the transport team.
• Mitigate disputes on behalf of clients, such as drafting KPA waiver letters for additional charges, and ensure demurrage notification and recovery on receipt of the shipping line's detention invoice.
• Alert clients to potential or real operational issues and escalate issues beyond your control to the IFFOS.
• Process draft invoices once shipments are cleared and forward them for billing.

Required profile

• Diploma in Clearing and Forwarding.
• 3 years of experience in clearing and forwarding or a related field.
• An East Africa Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate (EAFFPC) is an added advantage.
