Irish Language Teacher (Fixed-Term)

About the role

The Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board is recruiting a qualified Teacher of Irish for a fixed‑term position at Coláiste Aindriú. You will be responsible for delivering Irish language lessons to secondary students, contributing to curriculum development, and supporting cross‑curricular initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Irish language lessons in line with the national curriculum.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Irish language learning with literacy, numeracy and critical thinking across subjects.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades and lesson plans.
• Participate in professional development activities and staff meetings.

Required profile

• Registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland and holding a recognised teaching qualification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Irish language curriculum and assessment specifications.
• Ability to reflect on practice and show professional growth.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills with students, parents and staff.

Required skills

• Fluency in Irish language (spoken and written).
• Knowledge of Irish curriculum, syllabus changes and pedagogical approaches.
• Capability to design lesson plans that integrate cross‑curricular links.
