Laboratory Technologist – Clinical Chemistry

About the role

The Laboratory Technologist in Clinical Chemistry will deliver high‑quality analytical services within the chemistry section of the laboratory. Reporting to the Section Head, the role focuses on accurate testing, efficient use of reagents, and timely communication of critical results to support patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process general and specialized chemistry specimens for analysis.
• Maintain internal quality control on chemistry and special chemistry analyzers.
• Manage routine and planned preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Perform tests efficiently to generate valid results while optimizing reagent use.
• Communicate urgent critical results promptly and document appropriately.
• Participate in quality‑improvement, patient‑safety initiatives and continuous medical education.

Required profile

• Higher Diploma in Clinical Chemistry or BSc in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognised institution.
• Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologists Board.
• Minimum three years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Demonstrated computer literacy and strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure with unquestionable integrity and confidentiality.
