About the role
Jacaranda Maternity is hiring a Laboratory Technologist for a locum position in Nairobi, Kenya. The role involves collecting and managing samples, maintaining laboratory records and inventory, and is an on-site position within a maternity healthcare environment.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, prepare and manage samples and specimens, including safe disposal
- Clean laboratory apparatus and equipment
- Prepare media
- Keep laboratory records
- Manage inventory and stock
- Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors
Required profile
- Diploma or certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences or its equivalent
- Valid license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians Board (KMLTTB)
- At least 3 years' experience as a licensed lab technologist in a busy laboratory
- Experience setting up start-up medical laboratory operations in a health facility
Required skills
- Excellent analytical reasoning and meticulous attention to detail
- Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work in a team in a culturally diverse environment and to use initiative to solve problems
