Programme Management Intern

About the role

UN-Habitat is recruiting a Programme Management Intern to support the implementation and monitoring of technical cooperation activities under the overall supervision of the Program Management Officer. The internship is based outside Kenya, in Westlands.

Key responsibilities

• Provide substantive support in implementing the Improved resilience of coastal communities project in Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana, financed by the Adaptation Fund.
• Support the work unit with administrative tasks such as preparing work plans, budgets, reports and proposals.
• Take part in planning, preparing and running meetings, workshops, conferences and expert group meetings.
• Gather and compile data and information for documents, guidelines and other materials.
• Help write project concept notes for resource mobilization.
• Edit text for reports, articles and concept notes; help prepare PowerPoint presentations on UN-Habitat mandates.
• Draft maps, dashboards and diagrams.
• Assist in developing urban planning policy documents, guidelines and presentations by reviewing publications and drafting and commenting on documents.
• Support communication and visibility activities such as publications, presentations, brochures, videos and handbooks.
• Collect and share information on risk monitoring in projects and programmes, and carry out other tasks requested by the country team.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a graduate programme, in the final year of a first university degree (minimum Bachelor's level), or has graduated with a Bachelor's, Master's, PhD or equivalent.
• Computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
• Keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to its Charter ideals.
• Able to interact respectfully with people of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
